Enquire about this product

This is a beautiful original drawing signed André Lhote. Please note that this is a genuine drawing, not any kind of print. The drawing is on old paper, which carbon dates back to the era of the artist. The drawing is in very good condition for its age, with the level of fading/wear you would expect for old paper. It comes complete with a high quality museum standard acid-free mount, ready for framing - looks magnificent when framed and would enhance any interior.

The work is sold in the manner of André Lhote as we have no formal documentation and therefore cannot be certain of authenticity. There are usually only one or two acknowledged experts worldwide for any given artist and it takes time and money to have a work of art officially authenticated. Auction houses are not legally allowed to give official authentication as they must refer to the given expert/s. Most of our pieces of art were bought from auctions, antiquarian markets and individuals worldwide.

BIOGRAPHY
André Lhote, (born July 5, 1885, Bordeaux, France died January 24, 1962, Paris), French painter, sculptor, writer, and educator who was a prominent critic and teacher of modern art. Lhote studied decorative sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux from 1898 to 1904. About 1905 he took up painting, and a year later, he moved to Paris. Lhote initially painted colourful landscapes in a Fauvist style, but his mature works, such as Rugby (1917), are Cubist in manner.

FRAMING
The drawing comes mounted but unframed and we can have it professionally framed for you. We do not charge for this service and receive lower framing prices than usual because of our existing relationship with framing companies.
