This is a beautiful hand signed vintage offset lithograph by artist Roy Lichtenstein, one of the founders of American pop art. The lithograph is from a limited edition of 500 only a few of which were hand signed by Lichtenstein. It comes with a quality mount and will look magnificent when framed. We repeat that this is not a printed signature: it is hand signed by the artist and therefore valuable.
A limited print signed by the artist is the next best thing to owning an original painting. It goes without saying that this work will provide an outstanding appreciating investment as well as an impressive statement for your home or office. Please scroll down for further images and information.
PROVENANCE
Private collection of Stephen Baring, owner of Tempus Gallery. Collection includes two inherited collections and twenty five years of personal collecting. The collection numbers well over 1,000 works of art, many of which will be sold over the coming months.
OFFSET LITHOGRAPH
Offset lithography is a process used for printing on a flat surface, using printing plates. An image is transferred to a printing plate, which can be made of a variety of materials such as metal or paper. The plate is then chemically treated so that only image areas (such as type, colours, shapes and other elements) will accept ink. Water and ink is applied to the plate. Because of the chemical treatment, ink only "sticks" to the image areas, which reject the water. Areas without images reject the ink. The plate is then rolled onto a rubber cylinder applying the inked area, and in turn the rubber cylinder (or "blanket") applies the image to the paper. The system is "offset" because the plate does not come in direct contact with the paper, which preserves the quality of the plate.
FRAMING
The lithograph comes unframed and we can have it professionally framed for you. We do not charge for this service and receive lower framing prices than usual because of our existing relationship with framing companies. Framing also comes complete with a quality mount.
