This is a simply beautiful Swiss-made diamond and enamel lapel pocket watch, dating from around 1895, during the Art Nouveau era and in as near to mint all-original condition as you will find for a watch dating back over 110 years - brighter and more impressive than photographed. The watch comes from our watchmaker's private collection and features a solid 18ct gold case, set with gorgeous purple and cream enamel work and a single diamond. The enamel dial is in mint bright condition - no cracks or chips - and the high quality Swiss crown-wound movement was made by Stauffer, importers for IWC. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by our watchmaker and is in full working order. The watch comes complete with its original enamelled lapel pin, which is in excellent condition. The enamel on the watch and lapel pin is all in mint condition. The watch will be posted in a new, quality presentation case. We sense it will make someone a very special present as well as providing an excellent financial investment.
The solid 18ct gold case features beautiful enamel work and is in near mint condition, apart from very minor wear on the inside back of the case. It is set with a genuine diamond and measures 30mm wide x 40mm high, including the solid 18ct gold stem/bow. Both stem and bow are in very good condition. Both back lids [cuvettes] are hallmarked for 18ct gold and close correctly, with the hinge in good order. The enamelled lapel pin measures 37.5mm wide and is in excellent condition. The lapel pin is not hallmarked but maybe solid gold, not sure. The entire length of the watch and lapel pin is 62mm.
The beautiful enamel dial is in mint clean, bright condition - no cracks or chips. The original blued-steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is perfectly clear.
The original crown-wound Swiss movement is excellent quality and is much brighter and cleaner than photographed. It is in very excellent, bright condition and is signed 'SS&Co' and 'Swiss made'. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by our watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.
A superb antique pocket watch; full of charm and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
Our asking price is below the value of the watch, given the continual rise in value of antique pocket watches of this quality. Such is the high quality of the watch, we will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. We offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy with your purchase. Please feel free to view the watch in central London.
