This is a very rare Zenith 8 day maritime clock Stephen Baring is releasing from his private collection. It's in simply excellent all-original condition and should interest any serious collector. The clock is likely to be from a ship captain's cabin but I'm not sure exactly what kind of ship the clock is from. Thoughts welcomed. The watch features a wind indicator and has an unusual way of winding and setting the time (see below).
The steel case is in excellent gleaming condition, with no significant wear and measures 111mm wide, including the screwed down plate. The width including the bezel is 95mm.
The beautiful original, unrestored dial features luminous Arabic numbers and is in superb clean condition and is signed 'Zenith', '8 Jours' and 'Swiss made'. The red circle you see above the Zenith signature is a wind indicator, which changes from white to red. The original luminous cathedral hands are also in excellent condition, and the original lens is very clear.
The Zenith movement is in excellent condition and full working order, with no issues. The clock is wound by turning the bezel and the hands are set by pulling the bezel up and turning - very unusual.
This beautiful clock is on its original wooden plinth, which is in excellent condition. The plinth measures 148mm wide.
A simply superb clock from one of history's most famous watchmakers; will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
