IWC Schaffhausen automatic vintage watch - c1958/1962

Description

This is a simply beautiful watch by IWC Schaffhausen, who need no introduction. The watch dates from between 1958-1962 and is in beautiful clean original condition for a watch of this age - more 'clean' than photographed. It features a stunning black dial, which I believe is original, three-piece steel case, Cal 853 21 jewel automatic movement and original signed crown. The watch comes complete with a new, quality Hirsch strap and a new quality watch box.

The steel three-piece case is in excellent, clean condition with no significant wear. It measures 34mm wide, excluding the original signed crown x 40mm long including the lugs. The back closes tightly and the inside is signed 'International Watch Co', 'IWC Probus Scafusia', 'Acier Inoxydable', 'Swiss' and reference '1596642'.

The black dial is stunning and looking at it through a lens I believe it to be original. The steel hour batons are applied and the dial is signed 'International Watch Co', 'Schaffhausen', 'Automatic' and 'Swiss made'. The original steel hands, including centre-seconds hand, are in excellent unbent condition and the crystal lens is very clear.

The automatic 21 jewel movement [Cal 853] is in very good working order and is signed 'International Watch Co', 'Swiss', '21 Jewels', 'c.853', 'Pat.appl.' and the movement reference number '1646805'. The movement has just been oiled by a professional watchmaker and is brighter than photographed.

This beautiful watch comes complete with a new, high quality Hirsch strap. The watch will be posted in a new quality watch box, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
