This is a simply exceptional Heuer vintage chronograph. The condition of this watch is so good that it may well be new old stock - never used or worn; and this is original, unrestored condition. The dial is original, with no restoration, and in literal mint condition - it could have been made yesterday. It is impossible to show you just how good the condition is with photographs. If you have any interest in collecting either Heuer vintage chronographs or vintage chronographs in general, you should seriously consider this watch - you will never find a 1940s chronograph in better condition than this. It is certainly the best I have seen in twenty years.
Dating from the 1940s, the watch features a literally mint original, unrestored triple register dial, blued-steel hands, a 36mm steel case, original unsigned winding crown and a mint clean, crisp hand-wound Ed Heuer-signed Valjoux Cal 71 movement. It comes complete with a new leather strap and a new, quality non-Heuer presentation case. The watch makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with a history, and will only rise in value. The watch is even better in reality than photographed so I know someone is going to be very pleased to receive it.
The steel case is in excellent bright condition, with very minor wear, and measures 36mm wide, excluding the original pushers and original signed winding crown x 13.5mm thick x 43mm long, including the lugs. The inside back of the case is signed 'Acier Inoxydable' and the '40604' serial number. The case does not carry a personal inscription.
The original, unrestored triple register dial is in mint condition - it really could have been made yesterday. Amazing for a dial dating back to the 1940s. It is signed 'Heuer' and 'Swiss'. The original blued-steel hands, including flyback centre seconds hand, are also in mint condition and the original lens is perfectly clear.
The hand-wound Valjoux 71 movement is in excellent, clean, crisp condition and is signed 'Ed Heuer & Co Switzerland', with the famous Heuer emblem. The movement is in excellent working order, with all functions working correctly.
I have put this lovely watch on a new leather strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new non-Heuer watch case.
A rare, highly collectible vintage watch from a top maker; full of meaning and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
