This is an absolutely stunning Ebel Art Deco ladies watch, dating from the late 1930s and in superb, gleaming, glittering condition for a watch of this age, with very minor wear and much more impressive in reality than photographed. The watch features a diamond encrusted solid platinum case and six solid platinum integral gate links, which are articulated to wrap around the wrist and form part of the bracelet. The case and gate links are heavily decorated with over 3 carats of genuine glittering diamonds - 94 diamonds in total - all of which are present and original. The watch also features a clean Art Deco dial, an original winding crown, a clean, freshly serviced hand-wound 17 jewel movement and an integral solid 18ct white gold rope bracelet and clasp, which has two length settings - 7” and 7 1/4” wrist size. A good jeweller can shorten the bracelet if necessary.
The watch comes complete with a quality presentation case for wrapping as the perfect gift. The watch is extremely rare - Ebel made very few ladies watches in this early era - and makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with a history. It will only rise in value over time, providing an excellent financial investment. The watch is better in reality than photographed so we know someone is going to be very pleased to receive it.
The solid platinum hinged case and the three attached gate links on either side are beautifully decorated with 94 genuine glittering diamonds. The stones weigh over 3 carats in total and are genuine, original and are all present. The case is in excellent gleaming condition - much more so than photographed - with very minor wear. The three gate links are articulated to wrap around the wrist and the length of the gate links and case is 76mm long. The case itself measures 10.2mm wide, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 31mm long, not including the gate links on either end of the case. The outside back of the case carries the case makers initials and the appropriate hallmarks for solid platinum. The outside back of the case is blank with no personal inscription.
The Art Deco dial is in clean condition, with very minor wear, and features lovely Art Deco numbers. It is signed 'Ebel’ and ‘Swiss’. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is clear.
The hand-wound Swiss 17 jewel movement is in very good, clean condition for its age. It was made for Ebel by the Swan watch company and is signed ‘Swan Watch Co’, ‘17 Seventeen Jewels’, ‘Unadjusted’ and ‘Swiss’. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order, with no issues.
This lovely watch is on an integral solid 18ct white gold double rope bracelet, which is in excellent gleaming condition. The bracelet carries hallmarks for solid 18ct gold and has two length settings - 7” and 7 1/4” wrist size. A good jeweller can shorten the bracelet if necessary. The watch comes complete with a new quality non-Ebel watch box.
A rare, highly collectible vintage watch from a top maker; full of meaning and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
