This is a simply beautiful watch dating from 1914 - so early that the famous Rolex crown on top of the logo had not yet been created. As such it's a very rare find. The watch is in excellent all-original condition for its age, with no significant wear. It is clear that it has rarely been worn in its lifetime. It features a gorgeous solid 9ct gold case, a mint clean enamel dial and a quality Rolex 15 jewel movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order. The watch comes on a quality black leather strap. This lovely watch comes complete with a new, quality presentation case.
You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.
The solid 9ct gold double hinged case is in excellent, gleaming condition, and shows almost no signs of wear, with no dents or significant scratches . This watch is larger than most watches of the era and the case measures 28mm, excluding the original winding crown x 37mm long, including the gold swinging lugs. The back opens on a hinge and the inside back is signed 'Rolex', 'W&D' [for Willsdorf and Davies, the founders of Rolex], the '623354' case reference number and carries the appropriate London import hallmarks for 9ct gold, dating to 1914.
The original enamel dial is in simply superb condition, gleaming white with no cracks or chips - so rare for a watch of this age. It is signed 'Rolex' and features the sought-after red 12. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.
The original hand-wound 15 jewel Rolex movement is in very good, bright condition for its age, and is signed 'Rolex' '15 Jewels' and 'Swiss Made'. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.
This lovely watch is on a new quality black leather strap which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one of history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
