Description

This is a simply beautiful watch dating from 1914 ' so early that the famous Rolex crown on top of the logo had not yet been created. As such it's a very rare find. The watch is in very good bright condition for its age. It features a gorgeous 9ct gold case. The watch also has a clean dial and a quality Rolex 15 jewel movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order. The watch comes on a quality black leather strap. This lovely watch comes complete with a new, quality presentation case.

You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.

The solid 9ct gold case is in very good, bright condition and shows almost no signs of wear. This watch is larger than most watches of the era. The back of the case is unsigned, in excellent condition and opens on a hinge. The inside back is signed 'Rolex' and carries the appropriate London import hallmarks for 9ct gold and dates it to 1914. There are also the initials 'W&D;' which stand for 'Wilsdorf & Davies', the founders of Rolex. There is also the case reference no '000181.'

The dial is in very clean condition and is signed 'Rolex' and features Roman numerals. As mentioned, in 1914, the famous crown on top of the Rolex name had not yet been introduced. The original blued steel hands are in very good unbent condition, and the lens is very clear for its age.

The original hand-wound 15 jewel Rolex movement is centre jewelled. It is in very good, bright condition - and is signed 'Rolex' '15 Jewels' and 'Swiss Made'. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.

This lovely watch is on a new quality black leather strap and suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.

A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
