This is one of the finest and certainly most rare ladies Patek Philippe watch I have ever offered for sale. It dates from 1939, during the late Art Deco era, and is in simply excellent condition - museum standard. It comes from a private collection and has clearly been carefully looked after. All parts of the watch are original to each other and the watch is of course authentic. The watch is heavy, plenty of gold, and features a gleaming solid 18ct rose gold case, decorated with diamond shoulders, with a solid 18ct rose gold integral bracelet. The three-strand bracelet is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Also a very clean hand wound Patek Philippe movement and a beautiful black dial. Case number: 506430 / Movement number: 865155.
The solid 18ct rose gold case is in excellent, bright gleaming condition for its age, with no significant wear. It features diamond shoulders, set with 10 genuine high grade diamonds. The case measures 17mm wide, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 29mm long. The case back closes perfectly and firmly and the edges of the top and bottom are in good condition, showing that the case has always been opened with care. The inside is correctly signed 'Patek Philippe & Co', 'Geneve Swiss', the '506430' case reference number and Swiss hallmarks for solid 18ct gold.
The beautiful black dial is in very clean condition, with minor wear. It features enamelled Patek signature, solid 18ct gold hour batons and is signed 'Patek Philippe & Co' and 'Geneve'. The original gold hour markers and hands are in excellent condition, and the lens is very clear.
The hand wound Patek Philippe movement is in excellent, clean condition. It is superb quality, as you would expect, centre jewelled and featuring Geneva stripes. It is signed 'Patek Philippe & Co', '865155' [the movement reference number] and 'Geneve'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order.
The watch is on its original solid 18ct rose gold integral bracelet, which is in beautiful condition. It is hallmarked on the clasp and is made of three 'rope' strands - a very high quality example of the jewellers craft. The watch/strap measures 171mm from tip to tip. The watch comes complete with a new, quality non-Patek watch case.
A lovely, very valuable watch from one history's premier watchmaker; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
