This extremely rare vintage Cartier ladies' watch is in excellent original condition. The watch was made for Cartier by Jaeger LeCoultre, one of history's most famous watchmakers. Jaeger LeCoultre began a long association with Cartier in the late 1920s. This watch dates from the 1930s, during the Art Deco era, and features a solid 18ct gold case, a clean original double signed dial, and a clean, freshly serviced Jaeger LeCoultre movement. This is a watch that can be worn by day or in the evening, and will always be a much admired talking point. It comes in a smart, new watch box and still has attached its original strap with solid 18ct gold fittings. The strap is in such good condition that it is clear the watch has not seen much wear in its lifetime. Very few Cartier Art Deco watches in this condition come to the market as Cartier made very few and the vast majority are held in private collections.
The solid 18ct gold Art Deco case features fancy lugs and is in excellent gleaming condition, with very minor wear. The case measures 15mm wide x 35mm long, including the lugs. The watch features a 'back winder' where the winding crown is flat on the outside back of the case, instead of on the side. The inside back of the case and the outside side of the case carry the appropriate French hallmark for solid 18ct gold.
The original, unrestored Art Deco dial is in excellent, clean condition for a watch dating back to the 1930's. It is double signed 'Cartier', 'Jaeger LeCoultre' and 'Swiss'. The original blued steel hands are in very good, unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The hand wound high grade movement was made for Cartier by Jaeger LeCoultre and is signed 'Jaeger', 'Fifteen 15 Jewels', 'Swiss' and 'Three 3 Adj'. There is a movement cap under the case, which has kept it protected. It has recently been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.
This beautiful watch comes complete with its original strap, which is in excellent condition. The strap fittings are 18ct gold. I will post the watch in a new, quality presentation box, for safekeeping or for wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
A superb, valuable watch from one of history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance.. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
