Enquire about this product

This is a simply beautiful Mappin ladies' Art Deco watch, dating from the early 1930s and in very good all-original condition for a watch of this age - brighter than photographed. The watch features a solid platinum case, set with 42 genuine glittery diamonds, an original Art Deco dial and a quality Swiss hand-wound movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in good working order for its age. The watch comes on a new leather strap and comes complete with a new, quality presentation case for wrapping as the perfect gift. Mappin were the famous English jewellers who later became Mappin & Webb.

The beautiful solid platinum case is in very good bright condition and is set with 42 glittery genuine diamonds and measures 16mm, excluding the original winding crown x 33mm long, including the lugs. The back closes tightly and the inside is signed 'G&S Co' (the casemakers) and '3512'. The case is not signed platinum, which was often the case with platinum cases from this era, but we had the case professionally tested and it is guaranteed to be solid platinum.

The lovely Art Deco dial is in original, unrestored condition, which adds to the value. It is very clean for a watch from this era, with minor wear, and features beautiful classic Art Deco numbers. It is signed 'Mappin', '15 rubis' and 'Swiss made'. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.

The original hand-wound Swiss movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.

This lovely watch is on a new leather strap and comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.

A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one of history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.

You can feel confident buying from us - we offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned in the same condition. We also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. We also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. We offer our customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.
