Firstly, this beautiful Vacheron Constantin watch [Cal 466/3B/Case 327512/Movement 477882] was photographed in less than ideal light conditions, giving many of the photos a greenish hue. The watch is therefore guaranteed to be more impressive than photographed.
Dating from 1951, the watch is in excellent all original condition for its age - a collectors dream. The watch features a large [35mm] solid 18ct pink gold case with hidden lugs, a very clean hand-wound 17 jewel movement [Cal 466/3B] and a clean original, unrestored dial. As mentioned, the photos do not do justice to this beautiful watch, so if you like the photos you will be thrilled with the actual watch.
The solid 18ct pink gold case is in excellent, clean, gleaming condition, with no nasty polishing, and features a beautiful Florentine bezel. It is obviously very high quality, as you would expect from Vacheron and measures 35mm wide, excluding the original winding crown x 35mm long. The lugs are hidden. The case back closes perfectly and the edges of the case back are in excellent condition, showing that the case has rarely been opened and always carefully. The inside back of the case is correctly signed 'Vacheron & Constantin', 'Swiss', the '327512' case reference number and the appropriate hallmarks for Swiss 18ct gold. The outside back of the watch is also in excellent polished condition. However, we forgot to photograph the outside back so we will do so and add the photo once ready.
The lovely original, unrestored silvered dial is in even condition, with a little minor wear around the edges. It is signed 'Vacheron & Constantin', 'Geneve' and 'Swiss'. The baton hour markers are applied. The original 18ct gold hands are in very good, unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Vacheron movement [Cal 466/3B] is excellent quality, as you would expect, centre jewelled and features 'fausses cotes' decoration. It is brighter in reality than photographed and is signed 'Vacheron & Constantin', 'Geneve', 'Swiss', the '477882' movement reference number, 'Seventeen [17] jewels', 'Adjusted to temperatures' and '466/3B'. The movement is in simply excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly and is in perfect working order, keeping very good time.
The watch is on a new, high quality genuine lizard strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new quality watch box, for safekeeping.
A simply superb watch from history's premier watchmaker; serious collection standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
