This is a very rare, beautiful Ulysse Nardin watch, dating from the 1930s and in excellent all-original condition - far better, cleaner and brighter than photographed. Ulysse Nardin from this era are very rare and highly collectable, simply because they made very few wristwatches during this era. The watch comes from my private collection and features an excellent signed steel screwback case [made by Francis Baumgartner, the famous case maker], original unsigned winding crown, a very clean and beautiful dial and a quality signed 15 jewel movement with dust cap. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order. The watch comes complete with a new Hirsch leather strap, and a new, quality presentation case. Will provide an excellent financial investment. The watch is small by today's standards so please check the case measurements below.
Ulysse Nardin is a watch manufacturer founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland. Historically Ulysse Nardin was best known for being a manufacturer of marine chronometers, but today Ulysse Nardin produces complicated mechanical watches.
You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.
The steel screwback case is a rare design and is in good, bright condition, with minor wear - far cleaner than in the muddy photos - and measures 28mm, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 34mm long, including the lugs. The back screws closed correctly and the inside back is signed 'Ulysse Nardin', 'Locle', 'FB' [The case was made by Taubert & Fils, using a patent by Francis Borgel, the famous casemaker], 'Swiss', 'Brit Pat 385 509', 'Brevet' and the '210473' case reference number.
The Art Deco dial is absolutely beautiful and may be unrestored. If it has been restored it is a very early restoration. It is in excellent very clean condition and is signed 'Ulysee Nardin', 'Locle & Geneve' and 'Swiss made'. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The original hand-wound 15 jewel movement is in bright condition for its age and is protected by a dust cap. It is signed 'Ulysse Nardin', '3 Adj', '15 Jewels' and 'Swiss'. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.
This lovely watch is on a new quality Hirsch brown leather strap which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new quality presentation case for safekeeping.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one of history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
