Rolex Super Oyster steel vintage watch - c1951

This is a really beautiful, rare midsize Rolex Oyster Royal (Super Oyster), in steel [Model The watch hasn't photographed well so you can expect it to look brighter and more impressive in reality. 6066/Ref 764604]. Dating from 1951, the watch is in absolutely excellent condition, with no significant wear and is of course authentic. The watch comes from our personal collection and is always much admired. The Super Oyster was made for a few years in the early 1950s and didn't have the screwdown Oyster crown - a quick Google search will verify this. The watch features a stainless steel case, original signed screwdown crown, a clean Rolex hand-wound 15 jewel movement and a beautiful clean original, unrestored two tone dial with centre seconds hand. The watch comes complete with a Rolex steel buckle, new leather strap and a quality non-Rolex presentation box. The watch is small by today's standards and will suit either a gent who prefers a smaller watch or a lady who prefers a larger one.

The solid steel Oyster case is in excellent clean condition, with virtually no wear. The case measures 32mm wide, excluding the original non-screwdown crown [signed Rolex Super Oyster] x 10mm thick x 38mm long, including the lugs. The model and reference numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The case back screws correctly closed and the inside is correctly signed 'Rolex', 'Geneva Swiss', 'Patented', 'Stainless Steel', the '808028' serial number and the '5144' model reference number.

The lovely original, unrestored two-tone dial is in very clean condition, with minor wear, and is signed 'Rolex Oyster Royal', 'Shock resisting' and 'Swiss'. The original hands, including centre seconds hand, are also in excellent condition, and the lens is very clear.

The Rolex hand-wound 15 jewel movement is excellent quality, as you would expect and in crisp, clean condition. It is signed 'Rolex', 'Swiss Made', '15 Rubies' and the '29420' movement reference number. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in excellent working order.
Strap This beautiful watch is on a new leather strap, attached to which is a Rolex steel buckle. The watch comes complete with a new non-Rolex presentation box for safekeeping and wrapping as the perfect gift.
