Rolex steel gents vintage watch - mint - c1950

This is a stunning gents Rolex vintage watch we are releasing from our private collection, certainly one of the most beautiful we have ever offered for sale (2621/12325). Dating from 1950, the watch is in as near to mint condition as you will find for a watch of this age and all parts of the watch are original. The watch features a steel case, original unsigned winding crown, mint clean dial with blued steel hands and a clean, freshly serviced hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement. It comes complete with a new leather strap and a new, quality non-Rolex presentation case. Please check case measurements below as the watch is small compared to today's larger standard.

The watch is very rare. Rolex made countless watches with steel Oyster cases, but very, very few steel dress watches such as this one. You will see that the steel case was made for Rolex by Dennison. Dennison were a famous English casemakers who made UK market watch cases for all the top brands, including Rolex, Omega etc. A quick bit of Google research will verify this.

The steel case is in excellent, near-mint gleaming condition and measures 30mm wide, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 37mm long, including the beautiful gently curved lugs. The case back closes tightly and the inside is signed 'Dennison', 'Made in England', 'Denisteel' and the '2621' '12325' model and reference numbers. The outside case back carries the '280864' case reference number.

The beautiful dial is in mint condition, with Arabic numbers. It is signed 'Rolex' and 'Swiss Made'. The original blued steel hands are in excellent, unbent condition, and lens is extremely clear.

The hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement is in very good, clean condition, brighter and sharper than photographed. It is excellent quality, as you would expect, and is signed 'Rolex', '15 Rubies' and 'Swiss made'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in excellent working order, keeping excellent time, with a power reserve of around 30 hours.

We have put this lovely watch on a new leather strap, which we can change for a different colour if you wish. The watch comes complete with a new, non-Rolex watch case.
