Rolex Oyster steel watch - c1952

This is a stunning example of a midsize Rolex Oyster, in steel [Model 6144]. Dating from 1952, the watch is in absolutely excellent condition, with no significant wear - much nicer than photographed - and is of course authentic. The watch comes from my personal collection and is always much admired. The watch features a stainless steel case, original signed screwdown crown, a clean Rolex hand-wound 15 jewel movement and a beautiful clean dial. The watch comes complete with a new Hirsch strap and a quality presentation box. The watch is small by today's standards and will suit either a gent who prefers a smaller watch or a lady who prefers a larger one.

The solid steel screwback case is in excellent clean condition, with virtually no wear. The case measures 31mm wide, excluding the original screw-down crown [signed with the famous Rolex crown emblem] x 38mm long, including the lugs. The case back screws correctly closed and the inside is correctly signed 'Rolex', 'Geneva Swiss', 'Patented', 'Stainless steel' and '6144' [the model reference number]. The case carries the Model 6694 / Serial 1833497 reference numbers between the lugs and they are clearly visible.

The lovely dial is in mint clean condition and is signed 'Rolex Oyster', 'Shock resisting' and 'Swiss made'. The original hands are also in very good condition, and the lens is very clear.

The Rolex hand-wound 17 jewel movement is excellent quality, as you would expect and in crisp, mint condition. It is signed 'Rolex', 'Swiss made', '90008', '700' and '15 Rubis'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in perfect working order, keeping excellent time. The date function works correctly.

This beautiful watch is on a new Hirsch camel grain strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new presentation box for safekeeping and wrapping as the perfect gift.
