This is a very rare example of the iconic Rolex Oyster - one of the most collectible vintage watches of all. These watches are becoming increasingly rare and fewer and fewer of them are coming to the market. In time, the prices will rocket. Dating from 1939, during the late Art Deco era, the watch is of course genuine, with all original parts. It features a rare steel screw-back case [far more rare than gold], screw down Oyster crown, clean dial, centre seconds hand and Rolex 15 jewel movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. The Rolex Oyster was created by Rolex as the first waterproof watch. However, the watch is now very old and should not be used in water. The watch comes complete with a quality leather strap and a new, quality non-Rolex presentation case.

The steel screw-back Oyster case is in good original condition, apart from a slight dent in the back, which isn't very noticeable. It measures 31mm wide, excluding the original screw-down Oyster crown x 11mm thick x 35.5mm long including the lugs. The back screws correctly closed and the inside is signed 'Oyster Watch Co', 'Geneva Swiss', 'Great Britain Patents', 'Swiss Patents', 'French Patents', 'U.S.A. Patents', 'German Patents'. The back also carries a pair of stamps, one with a Coronet and the letters 'SAR'. The outside back of the case carries the reference number '77295', which dates the watch to 1939.

The dial is an early restoration and is in very clean condition. It is signed 'Rolex Oyster'. The original blued-steel hands comes with rare centre seconds and are in excellent unbent condition. Also, the lens is very clear.

The hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement is signed 'Rolex', '15 Rubies', 'Swiss Made Fab Suisse' and 'Patented Superbalance'. The movement is in good crisp condition, with minor patina, and has just been serviced by a professional watchmaker. It is in very good working order.

This beautiful watch comes complete with a quality leather strap and a new quality non-Rolex watch box, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.

A very rare vintage watch from one history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
