Rolex Oyster Royal steel gents vintage watch - c1964

This is a really beautiful, midsize Rolex Oyster Royal [Model 6246 /Ref 117265], dating from 1964 and is in absolutely excellent condition. It is of course authentic. The watch comes from Stephen Baring's personal collection and is always much admired. The watch features a 32mm stainless steel Oyster case, original signed screwdown crown, a clean Rolex hand-wound 15 jewel movement and a beautiful clean white dial with centre seconds hand. The watch comes complete with a new Hirsch leather strap, Rolex steel buckle and a quality presentation box. The watch is smaller by today's standards so please check the case sizes below. The watch is cleaner in reality than in the magnified photos.

The solid steel case is in excellent clean, gleaming condition and measures 32mm wide, excluding the original non-screwdown crown [signed Rolex Super Oyster] x 11mm thick x 38.5mm long, including the lugs. The model and reference numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The case back screws correctly closed and the inside is correctly signed 'Montres Rolex S.A.', 'Geneva Switzerland', 'Patented', 'Stainless Steel', 'IV.55', '18' and '6246' [the model reference number].

The lovely dial is in mint clean condition and is signed 'Rolex Oyster Royal', 'Shock Resisting' and 'Swiss Made'. The original hands, including centre seconds hand, are also in excellent condition, and the lens is very clear.

The Rolex hand-wound 17 jewel movement is excellent quality, as you would expect and in crisp, clean condition. It is signed 'Rolex', 'Swiss Made', '15 Rubis' and the '49165' movement reference number. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in excellent working order.

This beautiful watch is on a new Hirsch leather strap, attached to which is a Rolex steel buckle. It comes complete with a new presentation box for safekeeping and wrapping as the perfect gift.
