This is a very fine example of the iconic Art Deco hexagonal gents Rolex Oyster - one of the most collectable vintage watches of all. These watches are now very rare and fewer and fewer of them are coming to the market. In time the prices will rocket. Dating from the 1930s, the watch is of course genuine, with all original parts. It is in as near to mint condition for its age, with no significant wear, and is far more rare than the gold versions. It features a large [32mm wide excluding crown] chromed screw-back case, screw down Oyster crown, mint dial and high grade Rolex Extra Prima movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. The Rolex Oyster was created by Rolex as the first waterproof watch. However, the watch is now very old and should not be used in water. The watch comes complete with a new leather strap and a new, quality presentation case.
You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.
The chromed screw-back case is in excellent, gleaming condition and measures 32mm wide, excluding the original screw-down Oyster crown x 37mm long including the fixed bar lugs. The back screws correctly closed and the inside is signed 'Oyster Watch Company', 'Geneva Swiss', 'Great Britain patents 260554/1925 247.788 274789 / Swiss patents 114.948 120.848 120.851 122.110 / French patents 638.179 638.180 / USA patents 1.661.232 / German patents 443.386' and 'SAR'. The outside back of the case carries the case reference numbers '45718 1504'.
The stunning quartered dial is in perfect, mint condition and is signed 'Rolex Oyster' and 'Swiss made'. The original steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The hand wound 15 jewel Rolex Extra Prima movement [the highest quality Rolex movement of the era] is brighter than photographed and is signed 'Rolex Extra Prima', 'Swiss made', '15 Jewels' and 'Timed 6 positions for all climates'. The movement has just been serviced by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order.
This beautiful watch comes complete with a new leather strap and a new quality watch box, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
