Enquire about this product

This is a rare Rolex military officer's watch, dating from 1915 and in excellent all-original, unrestored condition. The watch was made for the English military and features a large, rare 34mm solid silver case, with screwback and front, original unrestored porcelain dial, original winding crown and a clean, freshly serviced hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement. It comes complete with a new leather strap and a new, quality non-Rolex presentation case. The watch makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with a history, and will only rise in value. The case has photographed a bit dark - it is bright and gleaming in reality.

The solid silver case is rare, with both the back and bezel screwing on to the middle section of the case. It is in excellent bright condition and measures 34mm wide, excluding the original winding crown x 12mm thick x 38.5mm long, including the solid silver fixed bar lugs. Both the case back and front screw correctly closed with the threads in perfect condition. The inside case is signed 'Rolex', 'W&D' (for Willsdorf and Davies, the founders of Rolex in 1906), the '622070' serial number, 'Z' and a full set of English hallmarks (London) for silver, dating to 1915. The outside back of the case is free from any personal inscription.

The original, unrestored porcelain dial is in very good condition for an unrestored porcelain dial dating back nearly 100 years - bright white with a few nibbles on the edge of the dial, which are hidden by the bezel, and a couple of tiny 'hard to see with the eye' hairlines on the very edge, again hidden by the bezel - and features beautiful large numbers. It is signed 'Rolex'. The original 'cathedral' hands are just gorgeous, and are in excellent condition. The lens is very clear.

The hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement is in very good, clean condition and is signed 'Rolex', '15 Jewels' and 'Swiss Made'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order, with no issues.

We have put this lovely watch on a new leather strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new non-Rolex watch case.

A rare, highly collectible military Rolex; full of meaning and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
