Description

This is a beautiful, highly-collectable Rolex gents' vintage watch, dating from 1937, during the Art Deco era. It hasn't photographed particularly well and is better in reality. The watch is in very good all-original condition for a watch dating back over 70 years and features a solid 9ct gold stepped case, original winding crown, a freshly serviced hand wound Rolex 15 jewel movement and an original, unrestored beautiful dial. The watch comes complete with a used Hirsch leather strap and a vintage watch box. It is small by today's larger standards so please check the case measurements below. The watch is highly collectable in this original condition so will provide an excellent financial investment.

You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.

The solid 9ct gold stepped case is in very good, bright condition, with minor wear. A jeweller can polish it to gleaming perfection but I leave that to individual taste. It measures 21mm wide, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 35mm long, including the solid gold fixed bar lugs. The case back closes correctly and the outside carries a personal inscription as well as the Rolex coronet and the '42923 2387' case reference numbers. The inside is signed 'Rolex', '31 records universals', 'RWCLtd', 'Geneve Suisse' and carries Glasgow import hallmarks, dating to 1937.

The original, unrestored dial is in good condition for a dial of this age, with even ageing as you would expect. It features applied Arabic numbers and is signed 'Rolex'. The original blued steel hands are in very good, unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.

The hand wound Rolex 15 jewel movement is excellent quality, as you would expect, and is signed 'Rolex', '15 Rubies' and 'Swiss made Fab Suisse'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age.

This lovely watch is on a used Hirsch leather strap, which we can change for a new one if the buyer tells us whether they would like black or dark brown. It comes complete with a vintage watch box.

A rare, highly collectable watch from one of history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
