This is a beautiful, very rare Omega calatrava gents vintage watch [Ref 2165], dating from 1941 and in excellent original condition - it really is a beauty. The watch features a bright white enamel dial, gleaming stainless steel screwback case and an excellent, crisp near-mint hand-wound movement. The watch comes complete with a new, high quality leather strap and a new, quality presentation case.
Our asking price is good value, given the continual rise in value of vintage Omega watches of this rarity and condition. Such is the high quality of the watch, we will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the running order. We also include a professional insurance valuation, in excess of our asking price. Also, we offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned in the same condition.
The stainless steel calatrava case is in excellent, bright gleaming condition and measures 31mm wide, excluding the original winding crown x 38.5mm long, including the lugs. The case back screws closed correctly and firmly and the inside is signed 'Omega', 'Fab Suisse Swiss Made', 'Acier Inoxydable' and the '2165 A' reference number.
The beautiful original enamel dial is in very good, bright white condition, with minor wear that is less visible to the naked eye than in the magnified photos. It is signed 'Omega' and 'Swiss made'. The original steel Breguet moon hands are in excellent, unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Omega 15 jewel movement is in near mint condition, with no significant wear. It is excellent quality, as you would expect and features gold jewel chatons. The movement is signed 'Omega', '15 Jewels', 'Swiss' and the ' 9872714' movement reference number. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order.
We have put the watch is on a new, quality leather strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new, high quality watch case.
A lovely watch from one of history's most famous watchmakers; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
