Enquire about this product

Firstly, the watch has not photographed well and is guaranteed to look far more clean and impressive in reality; or your money back.

It is a stunning, huge IWC Schaffhausen conversion watch - a simply amazing piece that will certainly be noticed on your wrist. Dating from 1912, the watch features a huge 54mm solid silver case, large original winding crown, high-grade hand-wound IWC movement, a beautiful original IWC black enamel dial with ‘cathedral’ hands and original glass lens. The watch comes complete with a leather strap and a new, quality presentation case.

This is not a modern conversion. It has been converted early in its life at a time when wristwatches started to become popular and pocket watches less fashionable, resulting in many pocket watches being converted into wristwatches. Conversions of this quality are highly collectible due to their uniqueness and will only rise further in value, making it an excellent financial investment as well as a beautiful possession. This really is a quality conversion; the craftsmanship is superb and it looks fabulous on the wrist.

The huge high quality solid silver case looks far nicer in reality than in the photos. It is in very good gleaming condition for its age, with the minor wear you would expect. It measures 54mm wide, excluding the lovely large original winding crown x 14mm thick x 62.5mm long, including the lugs. The outside back of the case features beautiful engine-turning and the inside case is signed ‘IWC Probus Scafusia’ and carries Swiss hallmarks for solid silver, along with the ‘553283’ case reference number. The case also has an inner cuvette, which closes to cover the movement. Both the outer back case and inner cuvette open and close on a hinge, which is in very good order, with no issues.

The beautiful original IWC black enamel dial is in good condition, with minor even and attractive ageing. It is signed 'International Watch Co’ and ‘Schaffhausen’. The original ‘cathedral’ hands are in very good, unbent condition, and the original glass antique lens is very clear.

The hand-wound IWC Schaffhausen movement is much brighter than photographed. It is high-grade and is signed ‘IWC Probus Scafusia’, ‘+31457’ and the ‘562631’ movement reference number. The movement is in very good working order for a movement of this age. The movement is ‘pin set’, which means that in order to change the hands you press the button on the side of the case and turn the crown.

This beautiful watch on an old but gently worn heavy leather strap, which suits it perfectly. It will be posted in a new, high quality watch box for safekeeping.

A superb watch from one of history's most famous names; full of ‘wow’ factor. Again, will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.

We offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy with your purchase. We also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation (we are approved to provide insurance valuations for wrist and pocket watches). We also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address - by appointment only. We offer our customers online prices - below value - with offline availability and service.
