This is a very fine Gubelin gents vintage watch, dating from the 1950s and in simply superb minty all-original condition, with no significant wear. The watch is top quality and features a heavy solid 18ct gold three piece screw-back case, original crown, clean original dial and high grade Gubelin 25 jewel automatic movement with a movement cap. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order for its age. The watch comes complete with a new Hirsch leather strap and a new, high quality presentation case.

Gubelin watches was started in 1885 by Jakob Gubelin in Berlin, Germany. Their initial business was to make collaborative watches for expensive brands such as Patek Philippe, IWC, Vacheron Constantin, Jeager-LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet with the initial intention of making fine quality watches for the German market. The resulting collections that Gubelin produced were some of the finest timepieces of the day.

The heavy solid 18ct gold screw-back three piece case is in excellent, gleaming condition, with very minor wear, and measures 35mm wide, excluding the original unsigned crown x 43mm long including the lugs. The back screws correctly closed and the inside is signed 'Gubelin', 'Swiss', the '140070' case reference number and carries Swiss hallmarks for solid 18ct gold. The upper section of the case is also hallmarked for 18ct gold.

The stunning original, unrestored golden dial is in extremely clean condition. It features solid 18ct gold hour markers and is signed 'Gubelin' and 'Swiss made'. The original gold hands, including centre seconds hand, are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.

The high grade automatic 25 jewel movement is in very good working order and is signed 'Gubelin', 'Swiss made', 'Twenty-five 25 jewels' and 'Adj. to two (2) positions'. It features Geneva stripes and a centre jewel and is protected by a metal movement cap. The movement has just been serviced by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order.
