Firstly, the watch has not photographed well. In reality it is incredibly crisp, clean and gleaming, with a mint clean original, unrestored dial that is pitch black in reality but looks greyish in the photos. If you like the photos you will be even more thrilled with the actual watch - or your money back.
This is a stunning Breitling Top Time triple register chronograph (Ref 810), dating from the 1960s and in virtual mint all original condition. It really is incredibly clean; certainly one of the best vintage chronographs we have ever retailed or seen in over twenty years. In other words, ‘best of class’ example. The watch features a gleaming 38mm steel case, original signed winding crown and original pushers, a mint clean pitch black original, unrestored dial, and a very clean, freshly serviced hand-wound Breitling/Venus 17 jewel hand-wound movement (Cal 178). It comes complete with a new steel strap, that we can change for a leather strap if you prefer, and a new, quality non-Breitling watch box. The watch makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with history, and will only rise in value. The watch really is hugely better in reality than photographed so we know someone is going to be very pleased to receive it.
The solid steel case is in superb, crisp, gleaming condition, with very minor wear, and measures 37mm wide, excluding the original pushers and original signed winding crown x 12.5mm thick x 46mm long, including the lugs. The outside back of the case is signed ‘Breitling’, ‘810’, ‘Stainless Steel – Swiss Made – Water proof – Shock protected – Antimagnetic’. The case does not carry a personal inscription.
The original, unrestored black dial with silver registers is in virtual mint crisp condition, with no significant wear, and is signed 'Breitling Geneve’, ‘Top Time and ‘Swiss Made’. The original hands are in excellent unbent condition and the original lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Breitling/Venus 17 jewel movement is in excellent, clean condition - it is clear from the condition that the movement has rarely been worked on and very carefully. It is signed ‘Breitling Watch Ltd’, ‘Seventeen 17 Jewels’ and ‘Swiss’. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order, with no issues. All functions work correctly.
We have put this lovely watch on a new gleaming steel mesh non-Breitling bracelet, which looks cool. However, we can put the watch on a quality leather sports strap if you prefer. The steel bracelet fits a 9” wrist. The watch comes complete with a new non-Breitling watch case.
A rare, highly collectible vintage watch from a top maker; full of meaning and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
