Breitling steel vintage watch - c1956 - large case

This is a very rare watch. Breitling made very very few steel plain faced watches in the vintage era, concentrating instead on chronographs, for which they are better known. And it is in beautiful all-original condition - it hasn't photographed particularly well and is cleaner in reality, with far less visible wear, so if you like the photos you will love the actual watch - it is stunning, especially with its 37mm oversized case.

Dating from 1956, the watch features an oversized 37mm solid steel case, sabre lugs, original winding crown, high-grade, very clean hand-wound Breitling movement and a beautiful clean original dial with original dark blued-steel hands. The watch comes complete with a modern Breitling signed leather strap and Breitling signed steel buckle and a quality watch box.

Given the rarity of the watch and the fame of the Breitling name, the watch will only rise in value, making it an excellent financial investment as well as a watch with historical interest. Our price is really very good for this watch in all-original condition.

The oversized solid steel case is in excellent gleaming condition, much cleaner and better than photographed. It measures 37mm wide, excluding the original (correctly unsigned) winding crown x 10.5mm thick x 45mm long, including the sabre lugs. The outside case back is signed 'Breitling', 'Stainless Steel Back' with the reference number '798435'.

The beautiful original dial is in superb clean condition, with no significant wear. It features applied alternate dagger and arabic hour markers and is signed 'Breitling Geneve' and 'Swiss made'. The original dark blued-steel hands are in very good, unbent condition, and the lens is extremely clear.

The hand-wound Breitling 15 jewel movement is in excellent clean condition and is signed 'Breitling', '15 jewels' and 'Swiss made'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order for a movement of this age.

This beautiful watch is on a very gently worn Breitling signed aftermarket leather strap, complete with gleaming Breitling signed aftermarket steel buckle. The watch will be presented in a new, quality watch box for safekeeping.
