This is a fine example of the iconic Rolex Prince Brancard - one of the most collectable vintage watches of all. Buy a Rolex Prince and you have a possession that will only ever rise further in value as most lie in collections and few decent examples come to the market. We sell very few of them because we only sell good examples, not tired ones, and we find very few of them. Dating from the 1930s, during the Art Deco era, the watch was photographed in less than ideal light conditions and is guaranteed to be more impressive in reality. It is in excellent condition for its age, with the kind of minor wear you would expect. It features a solid 18ct white and yellow gold flared Art Deco case, clean 'doctors' dial and chronometer grade Rolex Extra Prima movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. The watch comes complete with its original Rolex Prince box [excluding inner cushion], a lovely later Rolex crocodile strap and a Rolex gold plated buckle.
The solid 18ct gold flared Brancard case is in very good, bright condition, with the kind of minor wear you would expect. The case has no solder or repairs and can of course be polished to perfection if you wish. We do not do this as the extent of polishing is a matter of personal taste. The case measures 25mm wide at its widest, excluding the original winding crown x 43mm long, including the gold fixed bar lugs. The back of the case closes correctly and tightly and the inside back is signed 'Rolex', '31 Victoires', 'De Haute Precision', 'Geneve Suisse' and carries the appropriate Swiss hallmarks for solid 18ct gold. The outside back of the case carries the case reference numbers '73469 1490'.
The beautiful Art Deco 'doctors' dial is in very clean condition and is signed 'Rolex Prince' and 'Swiss Made'. It is called a doctors dial because of the large seconds sub dial, which was use by doctors to clearly time a patients pulse rate. The original blued steel hands are in very good unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.
The original chronometer hand-wound 15 jewel movement is in very good, bright condition, with minor wear - far brighter and more crisp than photographed. It is signed 'Rolex', 'Extra Prima', '15 Rubies' and 'Timed 6 positions', 'Observatory quality', 'Rolex hairspring', 'Swiss Made' and the '74483' movement reference number. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age. The watch winds and sets firmly.
As mentioned, this lovely watch is on a high quality Rolex genuine crocodile strap, which has very little wear and suits it perfectly. Attached to the strap is a Rolex gold plated buckle. The watch comes complete with its original Rolex Prince box [minus inner cushion], which adds hugely to the value of the watch.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
