This is a beautiful gents Rolex watch, dating from 1926, during the Art Deco era, and in excellent, clean condition for a watch of this age. The watch features a mint clean dial, solid silver tonneau case, original unsigned winding crown and a clean, freshly serviced hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement. It comes complete with a new Hirsch leather strap and a new, quality non-Rolex presentation case. The watch makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with a history, and will only rise in value.
The solid silver tonneau case is in excellent gleaming condition, with minor wear, and measures 26mm wide, excluding the original unsigned winding crown x 9mm thick x 36mm long, including the lugs. The inside back of the case is signed 'Rolex 7 World's Records', 'R.W.C. Ltd', 'Gold Medal Geneva-Suisse', 'Swiss' and a full set of British (Glasgow) import hallmarks, dating to 1926. The outside back of the case carries the '578' and '53488' reference numbers. The case does not carry a personal inscription.
The original, professionally restored dial is in near mint condition, with no significant wear, and is signed 'Rolex' and 'Swiss'. The original hands are in excellent unbent condition and the original lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Rolex 15 jewel movement is in excellent, clean, crisp condition - it is clear from the condition that the movement has rarely been worked on and very carefully. It is signed 'Rolex', '15 Rubies' and 'Swiss'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working orders.
We have put this lovely watch on a new Hirsch dark brown leather strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new non-Rolex watch case.
A rare, highly collectible vintage watch from a top maker; full of meaning and history. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
