This is a simply stunning, very rare Patek Philippe gents Art Deco vintage watch [Ref 831665]. Dating from the late 1930s, the watch is in excellent condition. It comes from a private collection and has clearly been carefully looked after. The watch features a gorgeous solid platinum stepped case, Art Deco pave diamond dial set with 20 diamonds and a clean hand-wound Patek Philippe 18 jewel movement. The watch comes complete with a new, genuine crocodile Hirsch strap and a new quality presentation case. Prices for vintage Patek Philippe watches are going through the roof, which makes this a very valuable watch and an excellent financial investment.
The solid platinum case is a lovely curved and stepped design and is in excellent, bright gleaming condition. It measures 25mm wide, excluding the original winding crown [correctly unsigned] x 42.3mm long, including the lugs. The case back closes perfectly and firmly and the edges of the top and bottom are in good condition, showing that the case has always been opened with care. The inside is unsigned, meaning that it is what is known as a contract case. Often, especially during this era, cases were made locally to avoid the high import duties on precious metals. We can guarantee that the case was made at the time for this watch. The outside back of the case is signed for platinum.
The beautiful Art Deco pave diamond dial is in excellent clean condition, with very minor wear. It features diamond-set numbers, totalling 20 high quality diamonds. The dial is signed 'Patek Philippe & Co'. The original platinum hands are in very good, unbent condition, with minor wear and the lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Patek Philippe 18 jewel movement is in excellent, crisp condition. It is superb quality, as you would expect, centre jewelled and featuring Geneva stripes and carrying the Geneva seal of excellence. It is signed 'Patek Philippe & Co', 'Eighteen 18 Jewels', 'Adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism & five 5 positions', 'No 831665', 'PXP' and 'Geneve Swiss'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order.
This beautiful watch is on a new, genuine crocodile Hirsch strap, which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new, quality non-Patek watch case.
A lovely, extremely valuable watch from history's premier watchmaker; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
