This is a simply stunning early watch - a magnificent Girard Perregaux silver single button chronograph, dating from the 1920s and in all-original condition - better and brighter than photographed. This beautiful watch features a large (38mm) gleaming solid silver hinged case, fancy silver swinging lugs, original winding crown and pusher, an original, unrestored porcelain dial and an original Girard Perregaux hand-wound movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order, with all functions working correctly. The watch comes complete with a new, quality leather strap, and a new, quality presentation case. It will provide a strong financial investment as well as a great watch to wear and show off.
We offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy with your purchase. We also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a professional insurance valuation (We are approved to provide insurance valuations for wrist and pocket watches). We also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address - by appointment only. We offer our customers online prices - below value - with offline availability and service.
The outside of the large solid silver hinged case is in excellent gleaming, clean condition and features a fancy engraved bezel and big solid silver swinging lugs - amazing lugs. It measures 38mm wide, excluding the original winding crown and pusher x 13mm thick x 52mm long, including the swinging lugs (20mm lug width). The back closes correctly on a hinge with the hinge in good order and the inside back is signed ‘Girard-Perregaux’, ‘Niel’ and the ‘1431’ case reference number. The outside back of the case is in lovely gleaming condition and free from any personalisation; the odd look on the photo is a service sticker that peels off.
The original, unrestored porcelain dial is is in bright, clean condition (brighter than photographed). It has some wear at the 8 and 2.30 positions and a hairline crack. They can be repaired to perfection by a porcelain restorer but we have not bothered as they are not offputting to the eye. The dial is signed ‘Girard Perregaux Chaux De Fonds’. The original blued-steel hands, including the flyback centre seconds hand, are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The original hand-wound Girard Perregaux is in very good condition for a watch of this age, and is signed 'Girard Perregaux’. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order with all functions working correctly.
We have put this beautiful watch on a new quality leather strap, which suits it perfectly, and it comes complete with a new, quality presentation box for safekeeping.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one of watch history's most famous watchmakers. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
