Firstly, the watch has not photographed particularly well. In reality it is more clean and the steel is more gleaming, with a mint clean original, unrestored dial that is pitch black in reality. If you like the photos you will be even more thrilled with the actual watch - or your money back.
This is a stunning Breitling Datora triple calendar chronograph complication (Ref 785), dating from 1965 and in excellent all original condition. The watch is very rare and features a 36mm steel case, original signed winding crown and original pushers, a mint clean pitch black original, unrestored dial, and a very clean, freshly serviced hand-wound Breitling/Valjoux 17 jewel hand-wound movement (Cal 730). It comes complete with its original tag and papers, a leather strap, a steel Breitling buckle and a new, quality non-Breitling watch box. The watch makes a very impressive statement on the wrist, something a bit different with history, and will only rise in value. The watch really is better in reality than photographed so we know someone is going to be very pleased to receive it.
The solid steel screwback case is in very good condition, the top being in near mint condition, with just light wear and the odd scratch on the back that will polish out if you wish. It measures 36mm wide, excluding the original pushers and original signed winding crown x 43mm long, including the lugs. The inside back of the case is signed 'Breitling Watch Ltd', 'Swiss' and the '1068551' case reference number. The outside back of the case is signed 'Breitling', '785', 'Swiss', 'Stainless steel', 'Waterproof', 'Antimagnetic' and 'Shock protected'. The case does not carry a personal inscription.
The original, unrestored black dial with white registers is in near mint clean condition, with no significant wear, and is signed 'Breitling Datora', 'Geneve' and 'Swiss made'. The original hands are in excellent unbent condition and the original lens is very clear.
The hand-wound Breitling/Valjoux 17 jewel movement (Cal 730) is in excellent, clean condition - it is clear from the condition that the movement has rarely been worked on and very carefully. It is signed 'Breitling Watch Ltd', 'Seventeen 17 Jewels', 'Unadjusted' and 'Swiss'. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order, with no issues. All functions work correctly.
This lovely watch is on a used heavy leather strap, attached to which is a steel Breitling buckle. The watch comes complete with a new non-Breitling watch case.
A rare, highly collectible vintage watch from a top maker; will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
