Description
This is a very fine, heavy Omega Seamaster steel watch
from my private collection, dating from the late 1950s and is in
near-mint all-original condition. Any odd marks, gloominess or
discolouration in the photos are not part of the watch itself - it is
cleaner and more impressive in reality. The watch is very rare in steel.
Omega made many of these in 9ct and 18ct gold but very few in steel.
The
watch features a heavy solid steel three-piece case, stunning original,
unrestored dial, original signed crown, date function and a very clean
high-grade 20 jewel automatic movement [Cal 501]. The watch comes
complete with a new Hirsch leather strap and a new quality watch box. If
you can view the watch in person do so; it’s well worth it. Please
don’t confuse with the more numerous cheaper, lighter Omega watches of
the era.
You can feel confident buying from me
- I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy with your
purchase. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long
enough for you to assess working order) and professional insurance
valuation. I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central
London address, in the New Bond Street area. I offer my customers online
prices - well below value - with offline availability and service.
The heavy solid steel three-piece case is in near-mint, gleaming
condition for its age. It measures 34mm wide, excluding the original
signed crown x 42mm long
including the lugs. The back of the case closes perfectly and the
inside is signed ‘Omega Watch Co’, Fab Suisse Swiss Made’, 'Acier
inoxydable', ‘Patent 315164, '2846/8-1SC', fit washer in back',
'Dichtung im boden einsetzen', 'loger le joint dans le fond', 'Ponga la
junta en el fondo'. The outside back of the case is signed ‘Waterproof’.
The original, unrestored dial is beautiful and features applied hour
markers and Omega emblem. It is in mint clean condition - with no
significant wear. The dial is signed ‘Omega’, ‘Seamaster’, ‘Automatic’
and ‘Swiss made’. The original hands, including centre-seconds hand, are
in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.
The automatic 20 jewel movement [Cal 501] is very high quality and is
in excellent condition - far brighter than in the dark photo. It is
signed ‘Omega Watch Co’, ‘Swiss’, ‘501’,
‘Twenty 20 Jewels’ and the movement reference number ‘16762534’. The
movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker
and is in very good working order.
This
beautiful watch comes complete with a new quality Hirsch leather strap.
It will be posted in a new quality watch box, for safekeeping and for
easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
A
special vintage watch from one history's most famous names; serious
collection standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as
well as a possession to enjoy.
