Description
This is a rare and beautiful Heuer pilots chronograph watch [Ed Heuer, pre Tag Heuer], dating from 1946 and in excellent condition - better than photographed. The watch is in lovely all-original condition, apart from the lume on the hands, making the watch a highly collectable investment piece. It features a stainless steel screwback case, original winding crown, a clean original, unrestored dial with those lovely large sub dials, and a signed quality Valjoux 23 movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order. The watch comes complete with a quality leather strap, and a new, quality presentation case. I will provide a strong financial investment.
My asking price is below the value of the watch, given the continual rise in value of Heuer vintage chronograph watches of this quality and rarity. Such is the high quality of the watch, I will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. Please feel free to view the watch in central London.
The stainless steel screwback case is in very good, bright condition and measures 36mm, excluding the original winding crown and pushers x 46mm long, including the lugs. The back screws correctly closed and the inside back is signed ‘Stainless steel’, ‘Ed. Heuer & Co’, ‘Swiss’, ‘Heuer’ and ‘66019’.
The original, unrestored dial is really beautiful and is in clean condition for its age, with the minor wear you would expect. The dial is signed ‘Heuer’ and ‘Switzerland’. The original hands are in excellent unbent condition [the lume has been replaced] and the lens is very clear.
The original hand-wound Valjoux 23 movement [17 jewels with incabloc] is in very good, bright condition, and is signed 'Heuer’ and ‘451322’. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in very good working order for its age with all functions working correctly.
This lovely watch is on a quality leather strap, which suits it perfectly, and comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one of watch history's most famous names. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
