Description
This is a simply stunning example of a gents Rolex Datejust Oyster
Perpetual, in steel and solid 18ct white gold [Model 1601 / Serial
5154573]. Dating from 1977, the watch is in absolutely excellent
condition. The watch comes from my personal collection and I have
enjoyed wearing it recently. It is always much admired. The watch
features a stainless steel case with solid 18ct white gold bezel, steel
Jubilee bracelet, quick-set date, a Rolex self-winding 26 jewel movement
[Cal 1570], a beautiful mint black dial. This is a very fine looking
example of this Datejust model. The watch comes complete with a quality
presentation box.
You can feel confident buying from me - I offer a full refund if you are
not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days
if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas,
in the same condition. I also provide a full receipt, six months
guarantee (long enough for you to assess the working order) and a
professional insurance valuation. I also welcome you to come and view
the watch at our central London address, in the New Bond Street area. I
offer my customers online prices - well below value - with offline
availability and service.
The solid steel case is in excellent clean condition, with virtually
no wear. The fluted bezel is solid 18ct white gold. The case measures
36mm wide, excluding the screw-down crown [signed with the famous Rolex
crown emblem] x 43.4mm long, including the lugs. The case back screws
correctly closed and the inside is correctly signed ‘Montres Rolex SA',
‘Geneva Switzerland’, ‘Patented’, ‘Stainless steel’ and ‘1601’ [the
reference number]. The case carries the Model 1601 / Serial 5154573
reference numbers between the lugs which are clearly visible, and is
also signed 'registered design' and 'stainless steel'.
The lovely black dial is in mint clean condition, and is signed
'Rolex’, ‘Oyster Perpetual Datejust’, ‘Superlative Chronometer
Officially Certified’ and ‘Swiss made’. The original hands, including
smooth-sweeping centre seconds hand, are also in mint condition, and the
Rolex cyclops lens is perfectly clear.
The Rolex self-winding 26 jewel movement [Cal 1570] is excellent
quality, as you would expect and in crisp, clean condition. It is signed
‘Rolex SA’, ‘Geneva Swiss’, ‘Twenty six 26 jewels’, ‘Adjusted 5
positions and temperature’ and ‘D652975’. The movement has just been
serviced by a master watchmaker and is in perfect working order, keeping
excellent time. The date function works correctly.
The watch is on a steel Rolex Jubilee bracelet. The watch comes complete a new, non-Rolex presentation box.
A
simply superb watch from one of history's most famous names; collection
standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a
possession to enjoy.
