Description
This is a very fine Zenith chronograph from my private collection, dating from the 1950s and in excellent condition. It hasn’t photographed well and is far more clean, crisp and impressive than photographed. The watch features a steel three-piece screw-back case, stunning clean original dial and a very clean Zenith/Excelsior Park movement. The watch comes complete with a new high-grade Hirsch strap and a later Zenith watch box.
My asking price is below value for a watch that will only rise further in value. Such is the high quality of the watch, I will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the running order. I also include a professional insurance valuation, in excess of my asking price. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. Please feel free to arrange to view the watch in central London.
The steel three-piece screw-back case is in very good, bright condition, with minor wear and no over-polishing. It can be polished further to taste. It measures 37mm wide, excluding the crown [it might be a replacement, I’m not certain] and original pushers x 43mm long including the lugs. The back of the case closes tightly and the inside is signed ‘Zenith’ and the ‘818246’ case reference number.
The original, unrestored dial is beautiful and in excellent clean condition, with no visible wear. It is signed ‘Zenith’, ‘Gradue pour 30 pulsations’ and ‘Swiss made’. The original hands, including centre-seconds hand, are in excellent condition and the original lens is perfectly clear.
The hand-wound Zenith/Excelsior Park movement is very high quality and is in excellent condition. Excelsior Park were makers of very high quality chronograph movements. The relationship between Excelsior Park and Zenith became so close that Zenith bought the firm. The movement is signed Zenith and is in very good working order, having just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker. The centre-seconds hand snaps crisply back to the 12 position.
I have put this beautiful watch on a new high-grade Hirsch padded strap, which I feel suits the watch perfectly. It will be posted in a later Zenith vintage watch box, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
A special vintage watch from one of history's most famous names; collection standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
