This is a beautiful very early Rolex ladies watch, dating from 1912 and in good condition for a watch dating back 100 years. It features a solid 9ct gold case with an enamel bezel, a very clean dial, swinging lugs and a Rolex hand-wound movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in as good working order as is possible for this age. However, it will not be as reliable or as robust as a modern movement. A watch such as this is bought for its historical and investment value. The watch comes complete with a vintage leather strap, and a new, quality presentation case. I sense it will make someone a very special Christmas present.

The solid 9ct gold hinged case is in excellent, gleaming condition and the back carries a beautiful personal engraving. The case measures 25mm, excluding the winding crown x 36mm long, including the solid gold swinging lugs. The back closes correctly on a hinge and the inside back is signed ‘W&D;’ [for Willsdorf and Davies, the founders of Rolex], ‘Xl’, ‘490269’ and carries London import hallmarks for solid 9ct gold, dating to 1912, showing that the watch was made for the British market.

The Art Deco dial is really beautiful and is in very clean condition. It is signed ‘Rolex’. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear. The hands are set by pressing in the tiny button next to the winding crown and turning the crown.

The original hand-wound Rolex movement is in very good, bright condition for its age, and is signed 'Rolex’ and ‘Swiss’. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in good working order for its age. It needs to be treated gently.

This lovely watch is on a brown vintage leather strap which suits it perfectly. The watch comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
