This is a very rare find - a beautiful Omega platinum & diamond dress pocket watch, dating from 1925 and in as near to mint all-original condition as you will find for a watch of this age. Any dark areas on the case are shadows. It is clear that the watch has rarely ever been used and having inspected the movement we don't believe it has ever been worked on. The watch comes from our watchmaker's private collection and features a gorgeous solid platinum case set with 64 sparkly diamonds, original mint Art Deco dial and a quality Omega crown-wound movement. The movement is in very good working order. The watch comes complete with a new, presentation box. We sense it will make someone a very special Christmas present. The watch was difficult to photograph, with a lot of shadows on the case, so you can expect it to look brighter and more impressive in reality. The watch will also provide a certain financial investment as fewer and fewer pocket watches of this standard come to the market. Very few people could afford a platinum and diamond Omega pocket watch in 1925 so probably no more than a handful were made, making it exceptionally rare. The Omega museum have asked to buy the watch but the process is too long, so we have decided to offer it to our customers.
The solid platinum case is in excellent clean condition, with no over-polishing, and is set with 64 genuine sparkly diamonds. The diamonds are all original, firmly set and high quality. The case can be polished further to taste. It measures 43mm wide x 6mm thick x 55mm long, including the solid platinum stem/bow. Both stem/bow are hallmarked and are in excellent condition. The back closes tightly and perfectly, with the hinge in perfect order. The inside back is signed 'Omega', 'Swiss made - fabrication Suisse', 'Platine', the '8601968' case reference number and carries Swiss hallmarks for platinum.
The beautiful original, unrestored Art Deco dial is in virtual mint condition, with extremely minor wear - amazing for a dial of this age. It features gorgeous large Art Deco numbers and is signed 'Omega'. The original blue-steel Breguet 'moon' hands are in mint unbent condition and the original lens is perfectly clear.
The original crown-wound Swiss movement is in excellent condition for its age, with all the screw heads in perfect condition, which means that it is unlikely that the movement has ever been worked on. The movement is signed 'Omega', 'Suisse', 'Fabriqué a Genéve', the '6469604' movement reference number and '35 ML'. The watch is in excellent working order.
A superb antique pocket watch; museum standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
Our asking price is well below the true value of the watch, given the continual rise in value of fine pocket watches of this quality and rarity. Such is the high quality of the watch, we will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, we offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned in the same condition. Please feel free to view the watch in central London.
